Jamie is a UMHS Interpreter Services ASL/English Medical Interpreter. She received her BA degree in Sign Language Studies from Madonna University in 2004 and currently holds RID national certification. Madonna University honored Jamie by presenting her with the Ernest I. Nolan Award – recognizing her outstanding achievements in the humanities.
As a staff Medical Interpreter for UMHS Interpreter Services and as a freelance Interpreter, she travels extensively throughout southeastern Michigan – specializing in medical, post-secondary, and theatrical settings. She has attended multiple medical interpreting training workshops with renowned Deaf educator Nigel Howard.
Among her responsibilities working for UMHS Interpreter Services is organizing in-service learning opportunities for Medical Interpreters and Translators. Jamie also teaches Basics of American Sign Language to UMHS staff and works with Christa Moran coordinating the Deaf Health Talks series featuring Dr. Michael McKee.
Jamie is also the co-founder of Synergy On Stage – a Metro-Detroit based company that specializes in entertainment interpreting.
